Ford will follow Strong to Texas

Shrine Bowl DL Poona Ford of Hilton Head today announced a commitment to Texas where he will get to play for his original coach of choice Charley Strong. Ford originally committed to Strong when he was Louisville but decommitted from the Cardinals when Strong left. And the addition of Chris Rumph to the staff also attracted Ford. "I've know coach Rumph for a while and he welcomed me with open arms to Texas," Ford said on ESPNU after making his announcement." Ford said the chance to help rebuild the Longhorn's defense also was key. "It makes you want to go there even more knowing that I have a chance to be a factor and help this defense get back to where it was." Ford took official visits to Texas, Purdue and Missouri. He also talked about taking a visit to USC but never took an official visit though he did visit unofficially.
