Hard to believe that I am still playing this game.  I started in closed beta and have kept going ever since with a few breaks now & again. It is still the best RPGMMO out there.  Much has improved since launch. The base game is now under $7 on Greenman Gaming.  There are no required dues although most eventually join Plus to get extra storage and such.  They have done a good job of remaining faithful to the franchise's lore.  Not overly difficult so is good for the casual player or broken down geezer like me. It is firmly story based. If interested we have an OOTS Gamecock guild although Y3 and I are the only members.  We play on PC North America. I can supply starter weapons, armor, gold, and the like to any wishing to check the game out. It is also important to start in the games original Wailing Prison and play out the initial overarching story in the way it was set up as opposed to just jumping in.  It is truly a superb story in the Elder scrolls tradition.  There are 3 factions.  Your choice of race determines which you belong to.  After the co0nclusion of the main story yo will be able to  play through the other 2 factions quest lines

Generous offer, Yancey, but I got too much on my plate to tackle another game right now.  Currently trying to finish up Horizon, and then I have the Special Edition of Elder Scrolls for PS 4 that I want to run through, and today, I got access to beta testing for the Diablo II remaster.

Is there cross platform play on the online version?  Since you mentioned the PC North America server, I suspect not.

I’m not a gamer, but my son got me into this game years ago. In the winter, when it was raining and couldn’t work, I would play all day while he was at school. I could get lost in that world. I haven’t played in years, but I agree that it was the best game.

Love(d) Skyrim but am worried about getting too lost in a game like that in terms of time.

It is certainly a big game set on a big map.  It has no end of course.  However they have packaged it so that it is easy to enjoy in bites.  Unlike many of this ilk it can mostly be played solo.  No time wasted trying to find/form groups.  The overarching quests are comprised of many smaller adventures.  Time management isn't too hard.  However even playing just the base game will give you a year of adventure

I just could not get into that one. Here recently I've been getting back in to Guild Wars 2 again. The wife and I played it a bit a few years ago, and we've been having fun with it again. I don't have as much time to play as I would like, but it is something I can enjoy on the weekends.

CockyO, that is understandable. The game could be very perplexing without at least a passing knowledge of the ES series from Morrorwind to Oblivion to Skyrim.

John, come on in, the water is fine. My account handle is Yancius.  My current toon is a high elf DPS warden going by the moniker of Yangela Grace.  All of mine have started with Y since forever.  My crowing gaming glory was to sneak Yahamata Yandhi past the ESO censors

This is the next installment i this year's story.  No spoilers from the main game that precedes it.

My 4th level orc templar, Joe Morrison, is poking around some Dwemer ruins on an errand for an elf on the island of somethingorother, that is apparently run by a very bad orc headman.

John, are yo doing the main game story line?
I inferred that whichever destination window I chose from the tutorial, I would be greeted to some cloaked figure who who introduce the main storyline ... but that hasn't happened yet.

G brings up the guild menu.  Then search for Order Of The Spur and ask for invite.  You will boost our membership to 3!  LOL

Yeah, you want  "Soul-Shriven in Coldharbour" quest.  Right now you have been started out of time.  Were you started in Vvardenfell?

OK. This will make your faction that of the Daggerfall Covenant.  After your encounter and tutorial with the hooded figure you should end up back in SM. You can always travel there as well. Be sure to collect any way shrines you are near. From then on you should be led through the game's main story.
