South Carolina’s 2017 recruiting class is one that could generate national buzz when all is said and done, according to one ESPN writer.
ESPN.com recruiting senior writer Jeremy Crabtree considers the Gamecocks among programs to watch as 2017 recruiting heats up.
“Will Muschamp and his staff really didn’t have a whole lot to work with when they came in and only had a few months there,” Crabtree said. “They were recruiting against schools that had multiyear relationships with top prospects. Now the Gamecocks have a full recruiting calendar to work with in this class and have already picked up three pledges in March, including a commit from a coveted JUCO receiver Stephen Guidry.”
The Gamecocks’ six-member 2017 class includes five who are from South Carolina.
“With that fast start and Muschamp’s natural ability as a recruiter, South Carolina should be one of the teams fans all over the country are talking about heading into signing day,” Crabtree said.
National Signing Day 2017 falls on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
USC finished No. 27 in ESPN’s rankings for 2016. ESPN.com writer Edward Aschoff considered South Carolina the surprise signing class in the SEC for 2016.
