South Carolina has picked up a commitment from three-star tight end Evan Hinson (Deltona, Fla./Deltona). Hinson chose the Gamecocks over Southern Cal, among several other offers.
Hinson was committed to Miami early in the process but decided to open the process up and check out other schools. He decommitted from the Hurricanes the day the Gamecocks offered.
Hinson visited South Carolina on January 15 and went to Southern Cal last weekend.
“I liked the visit a lot,” Hinson said after his visit to South Carolina. “The players told me how comfortable they were and how they are treated by the coaches. The players are down to earth. They’re cool, and they were telling me everything real. I feel like this is a place I could fit in.”
Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson was Hinson's recruiter of record. Tight ends coach Pat Washington, who attended Hinson's basketball game on January 14, was the secondary contact.
Hinson becomes the 24th member of the Gamecocks’ recruiting class. The Gamecocks now have the No. 28 class in the country.
