National Signing, or at least what’s left of it, is Wednesday. Like most other SEC schools, South Carolina signed the bulk of its class in the early signing period in December. As the Gamecoks get ready to finish up their 2018, let’s take a look at the five best signings of the Will Muschamp era.
2017
Four-star cornerback Jamyest Williams, 5-9, 174 pounds
The Georgia native was the crown jewel of last year’s signing class, picking the Gamecocks over the home state team, and he became South Carolina’s starting nickel back in his first collegiate season.

Four-star wide receiver OrTre Smith, 6-3, 215 pounds
The most sought after player in the state of South Carolina last year, Smith was an early commit and early enrollee, and he lived up to the hype with 30 catches for 326 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman.
Four-star defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, 6-6, 320 pounds
The JUCO transfer arrived out of shape but got into condition quickly and became the team’s best defensive lineman by the end of his first season. The Gamecocks will build around him the next two years.
2016
Four-star wide receiver Bryan Edwards, 6-3, 208 pounds
The Conway native turned heads as a freshman and really came into his own as a sophomore, taking over the No. 1 wide receiver role when Deebo Samuel was injured and responding with 64 catches for 793 yards.
Four-star quarterback Jake Bentley, 6-4, 220 pounds
The most surprising and most important recruit of the Muschamp era, Bentley reclassified late in the process, graduating from high school a year early so he could join the Gamecocks in 2017. He has started 20 straight games since the midpoint of that season.
