Former Wisconsin RB Caleb Kinlaw set to enroll at South Carolina

Jan. 13, 2017

Caleb Kinlaw told SEC Country on Friday afternoon that he has been accepted for admission into the University of South Carolina.

The former Wisconsin running back will move from Goose Creek, S.C. this weekend and join the Gamecocks as a walk-on with a chance to earn a scholarship before the 2017 season.

Kinlaw, a 3-star recruit out of Goose Creek (S.C.) High School, redshirted during his first season at Wisconsin before playing in one game in 2015. Coming out of Pearl River, most of his offers were from FCS schools.

In six games at the junior college, Kinlaw rushed 34 times for 150 yards and a touchdown. He has two season of eligibility remaining.

“I feel like I’ve gotten a lot faster. The last summer, when I was at Wisconsin, I got much faster,” he said, “So I’m trying to get back there. At that time, I was probably my fastest.”

The South Carolina running back group returns Rico Dowdle, who led the team with 764 yards rushing, and A.J. Turner (497 yards). Mon Denson, C.J. Freeman and Ty’Son Williams will also be back, none of whom saw the field in 2016.

David Williams will play his final season of eligibility elsewhere after graduating from South Carolina.
