I have been a supporter of Frank since he got the job at USC.  I had hoped that the Final Four run would be the start of an era of success for USC basketball.  I had wanted that for a long time, but never got it.   Frank is now in year ten on the job at USC.  I think its only fair to see how the season plays out, even though I am VERY discouraged after the first three SEC games.   We have suffered two lopsided losses and squeeked out one narrow win.    We have turned the ball over 65 times in those first three games.   We are near the bottom of division one college basketball in turnovers and fouls committed.  Just a few teams worse than us in those things.    And we are by far the worst team in the SEC in those categories.  Three games and no sign of any improvement in turnovers and fouls committed.  In my opinion, there isn't an SEC caliber point guard on this team.

Year ten and we are still waiting and hoping for a teams that can compete for an NCAA tournament bid even every two or three years.    We'll see how the rest of the season goes, but if we don't win at least half of our regular season SEC games, I think its time to replace Frank and give another coach a chance to see what they can do.

Our guys were out played on both sides of the ball last night. If there was ever a chance to get a SEC road win, it was last night. I also like Frank Martin, I think he is a great person but I too feel he is not the coach we need to take our program to the next level.

I too have been a FM supporter from the git go.  Assuming the season plays out like we all believe it will he simply has to go.  I was watching the game last night and Mrs B was half way watching while playing a game on her phone, about 5 minutes into the second half she looks at me and says, who is that screaming and yelling so much?

I've also grown tired of the FM drill sergeant schtick.  smh

I don't mind Frank's yelling at all.  But I do mind the poor play of the team.  If I was Frank, I'd yell at them too.

Time to move on IMO.  I think most of us like FM and respect him, but our teams suck since the Final 4 run. Can't shoot, too many fouls, turnovers, etc.  All the problems have been laid out above.  If we keep Frank after this year, I am just giving up on Gamecock Men's B-ball.  They are not even fun to watch IMO.

I don't mind Frank yelling either Gary, but their play is a reflection of his coaching and recruiting.  He can yell all he wants, but this all falls at his feet.

My thought's exactly. Just not seeing improvement on the court. Other then the Final Four run, his record here has been rather meeehhh.

This is a good team that will learn from its mistakes and improve down the road.

Let the season play out.

I hope you are right and improvement comes sooner than past seasons or we will be sitting at home again for the tournament.

Always rebuilding and waiting for this and that.  The excuses given for this program have all played out.   Nothing really changes.  We see glimpses and it gives me hope but then we see what we just did and I’m back to earth.   Frank cannot or will not change methods or styles.   Something else is needed.

Every year I hear that Frank will get better and every year our team is horrible.  I am fine waiting until the end of the season to fire him, but he needs to go.

I've been a Martin apologist for a while. I hate to say it, but it's time for a change. Save for that magical Final Four run, we've been very mediocre during his tenure. I will give him credit for leading us out of the dumpster fire that Horn left. Dumpster fire to mediocrity should not equal 10 years though. I don't know if we'll be able to find a better coach, but it's time to make a move.

Assuming we don't get to the dance this year, that's 1 tourney (albeit a magical one) in .... 10 years?

Last night I was angry, which I often am after a loss.   But after thinking it over, UT is a ranked team and its going to be hard for anyone to win in Knoxville.   We didn't play well.   We have some issues.  But its still early in SEC play and there is time to work things out.   The third game of the schedule does not make or break a season.   If we win on Saturday, we'll be 2-2 in the SEC.  Not bad considering who we have played.  Frank has had some success against Florida since he has been at USC.   I don't want the players to give up on themselves or each other.   Let's see what can be accomplished the rest of the way.

Like you I've calmed down a little. I was encouraged that we did not lose the early season non-conference games that usually keep us out of the tournament and thought finally a team that seems like they are not off to the traditional slow start under Martin.  I don't like how many turnovers this team is committing  and free throw shooting has always been abysmal.  I agree we let the season play out, but still at this moment feel, if we don't go dancing we need a new partner.

Of course we need to let the season play out.  I'd like nothing better than making the dance and keeping Frank at least another year.  He and his family really seem to love Columbia/USC and everyone that actually ends up playing for him seems to love him.  Also if you watch the post game "handshakes" many opposing coaches seem to have a genuine respect/like for Frank.

And that's all well and good but the bottom line is winning basketball games.  I fully expect this season to play out like many under Frank, we upset a couple of teams, lose a head scratcher or 2 and end up a couple games over .500 needing a very strong SEC Tournament run and or a lot of stars to align the right way for us to even get into the dance.

What Blitzy said. Let it play out, for sure. He is a good man, and has earned that. My expectation is, and I wish it were different and hope I am proven wrong, is that we won't make the tourney. I just don't see this team getting enough quality wins to push into the bubble. And if so, it's time to make a move. The program is stuck in a decade of mediocrity that is limping along on the memories of the FF run.
