South Carolina’s freshmen and some veterans attended Friday’s Pigskin Poets event at Richland County Public Library. While USC’s full camp roster hasn’t been released yet, the freshmen who attended each confirmed their jersey numbers.
Bryson Allen-Williams – 4
K.C. Crosby – 86
Shaq Davidson – Was wearing 14, said he wasn’t sure if that would stick for the season
Al Harris – 15
Blake McClain – 91
Tyshun “Deebo” Samuel – 9
Michael Scarnecchia – 12
Taylor Stallworth – 90
Malik Young – 77
... Crosby was on crutches but said his broken right foot is nearly 100 percent. He’s just waiting to get the cast off. Davidson said he will be fine for fall camp after having minor knee surgery to clear out some loose pieces from a high-school injury.
... Wide receiver Damiere Byrd said he's working out fully with the team this summer after a meniscus injury kept him out of the Capital One Bowl and spring practice. "It's close to 100 percent. I feel good." Byrd said he ran the usual "around 4.30" range recently in the 40-yard dash.
... Jonas Price, the walk-on kicker who went through spring practice with the team, switched from 34 in the spring to 35 for the fall. Zack Cimaglia (P/PK), Caleb Hines (WR) and Nick McGriff (TE) are also walk-ons. More walk-ons will join the team when the fall semester begins (Aug. 21).
All numbers are subject to change as the team reports and players begin being assigned to special teams.
In addition, Jamari Smith tweeted that he will be wearing No. 22, not the 23 that was listed in USC’s media guide.
