Future South Carolina football stars start strong in November

November 06, 2017

Two of the prospects who have a future in the South Carolina football team’s offensive backfield had big starts to the month of November.

Dakereon Joyner threw 2 touchdown passes in Fort Dorchester’s first-round playoff win over Socastee in the South Carolina 5A state playoffs. The 4-star quarterback now has 100 touchdown passes during his decorated high school career.

Lou Bezjak of The State wrote that Joyner has accounted for 146 touchdowns, including 42 this season. With 240 yards passing, Joyner will eclipse 9,000 for his career.

On Monday night, 3-star running back Deshaun Fenwick had 5 carries for 74 yards and 3 receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown in Braden River (Fla.) High School’s 42-7 win over Sarasota Booker.

Four days later, at St. Petersburg, Fenwick rushed 30 times for 194 yards and a touchdown in Braden River’s 38-14 win.

Four-star wide receiver Josh Vann did not catch a touchdown pass for Tucker (Ga.) High School in a 38-0 win over rival Stephenson, but he did complete pass for a big gain to open the game.

Four-star safety Marlon Character Jr., a cornerback at Northwest Mississippi Community College, had 3 tackles in a first-round MACJC playoff win over Hinds.

Through eight games for Georgia Military College, 3-star defensive tackle Jabari Ellis has 16 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.

Fellow JUCO commitment Ronnie Jamison didn’t play this past week. Jamison, a 3-star wide receiver at Highlands Community College in Kansas, remains out after suffering an ankle injury.
