COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The University of South Carolina baseball team (6-3) continues to Game #2 in its annual three-game series against in-state rival Clemson (8-1) Saturday at Segra Park (capacity 9,077) in Columbia, the home of the New York Mets Class A Minor League Columbia Fireflies. The Tigers won Game #1 7-1 in Founders Park convincingly, allowing only one hit for the Gamecocks, a solo home-run in the bottom 9th inning by Brady Allen. Gamecock Starter Carmen Mlodzinski (1-1) pitched 6.0 innings with 8 strikeouts and only 1 walk, but gave up 10 hits, including three 2-RBI homeruns in in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings.

The second game of the series is being called the "Battle at BullStreet" by Segra Park promoters - and will be a festivity setting beginning at 11:00 AM at the stadium with live music, food, and beer. Saturday's game will be streamed by ACC Network Extra, and will be broadcast on The Game 107.5 FM with Derek Scott, Tommy Moody and Drew Meyer on the call. Gamecocks go down in order to start the game......

Bottom 1st, Farr starts off in a bad way - walks the lead-off batter, and gives up a single to put 2 on, 0 outs. Can't have this.......

WIld pitch advances the base-runners to 3B and 2B, still 0 outs. A ground-out to 2B records the 1st out, but Tigers lead 1-0. Still a man on 3B, and 1 out....

Bottom 1st, Clemson leads 1-0, man on 3B, 1 out:

Farr gets a fly-out and a strike-out to close the side, and control the damage. But there still was damage. Now we got to find a way to get some hits, and not wait until the 9th inning again......

Clemson leads 1-0, Top 2nd inning:

Dallas Beaver gets the first hit for the Gamecocks - a 2-out single!! We get that out of the way, anyways.....

Andrew Eyster TRIPLES!! Beaver scores!! We're tied 1-1, 2 out!!!

Jeff Heinrich singles, driving in Eyster for the go-ahead run!!

Heinrich gets caught leaning too far from 1B for the final out of the top 2nd. We beat up their starter pitcher, however.

Gamecocks lead 2-1, bottom 2nd inning

Top of the 4th, and Gamecocks still lead 2-1......

Wes Clarke HOMERS!! :baseball-on-fire-smiley-emoticsmall: SMASHES IT OFF THE SCOREBOARD!!!!

Brady Allen singles, and we got our bats going now! Still 0 outs....

Beaver grounds out, but it serves to be a sacrifice hit, as Allen advances to 2B - 1 out....

Eyster walks....Heinrich SINGLES to drive in Allen!!

We've chased the Tiger starting pitcher! They call to the bullpen.....

Gamecocks lead 4-1, top of 4th inning, Gamecocks on 2B and 1B, 1 out....

Much better play today than last night.  Hope we can hold onto the lead and win.     :baseball-on-fire-smiley-emoticsmall:

Gamecocks 4-1, top 4th inning, 1 out:

New pitcher toes the rubber, winds up, uncoils, and hits George Callil! That loads the bases, with 1 out. Callil's 8th HBP thus far this season.....

Noah Myers strikes out, for the 2nd out. Campbell flies out, and we leave a lot of Gamecocks on the bases. But I think the team has exhaled now in this series, and are looking to play now. They have gotten some hits today!

Gamecocks lead 4-1, bottom 4th......

I think Callil is getting the Chuck Knoblauch yips throwing to first.....another throwing error from him to 1B and the lead-off batter is safe. Then consecutive wild pitches from Farr moves the runner to 3B with 0 outs, and it comes home to bite us with the next batter hitting a RBI ground-out to Callil, then a fly-out, and it's 4-2 South Carolina, 2 outs now.

The next batter singles, but the next batter grounds out to finish the inning....

Gamecocks 4-2, top 5th....

Thomas Farr retires the Clemson side, and it was a huge inning for him. The Tigers had gained a bit of momentum for themselves the previous inning, and Farr is getting up in the pitch count. He now has 85 pitches on the day, and Brett Kerry - the former Saturday starter Farr replaced, so Kerry cold provide his experience and muscle in the bullpen - was warming up during the 5th.

Gamecocks lead 4-2 top 6th inning

Gamecocks lead 4-2, Top 7th Inning:

We got something brewing here: new pitcher for the Tigers, this one has a 4.76 ERA. Lead-off batter Bryant Bowen singles, then advances to 2B on a passed ball to Clarke. Clarke singles, and we got Gamecocks on the corners, 0 outs!

Brady Allen then singles in Bowen, and it's 5-2 Gamecocks! We could use some insurance runs! New pitcher coming in for the Tigers, he has a 0.00 ERA, but only pitched 1 inning thus far. Still 0 outs!

Beaver sacrifice bunts back to the mound - they had a chance to get Clarke out at 3B, but the pitcher throws Beaver out at 1B instead - Clarke and Allen advances to 3B and 2B. Heinrich then flies out to centerfield to score Clarke, then Callil grounds out, and we leave more Gamecocks on the basepaths, but we get that run back, and then some!!

Gamecocks leads 6-2, bottom 7th
