***GAME THREAD Clemson vs South Carolina GAME 2 - Sat. Feb. 29, 2020***

Top 8th inning, Myers gets something started by walking to lead off the inning, then steals 2B and then advances to 3B off the sacrifice bunt by pinch-hitter Braylen Wimmer. Then Bowen singles to left to bring in Myers!! Still just 1 out, Bowen advances to 2B on a ground-out by Clarke, and Allen is walked, but Beaver pops up for the final out. But we're adding on....

7-2 South Carolina, bottom 8th 

 
We needed every one of those runs:

T.J. Shook has been pitching a strong game - he starts the inning off with a strikeout and a fly-out, but then a single then a home-run draws the Tigers closer. Daniel Lloyd comes in for Shook. Lloyd has been struggling thus far this season, so he should be on a short leash here....

Daniel proves his coach's faith by striking out the batter to retire the side.

Gamecocks 7-4, top 9th inning.....

Gamecock bats go right back to work - Eyster doubles on the 2nd pitch, and Heinrich hits another sacrifice bunt to move Eyster over to 3B. Awful lot of successful sacrifice bunts we've hit today - remember the Chad Holbrook years??

Callil flies out deep to drive in Eyster, and Gamecocks lead now 8-4. A new pitcher comes in for the Tigers....

Myers fouls out, but we extend our lead again.

Good to get some of the insurance back.  We have played small ball really well today.   Bunts and sacrifice hitting have been solid.

 
Oh well, I guess the broadcast is over?  Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for technical difficulties, the wrong score, inning, pitch count...

Bottom 9th inning - game is not over yet. Lloyd back on the mound, he gets the first out on a pop up. Then a walk and a single, and his day is done. Kerry is in to finish up, a save opportunity is on the table....

Kerry walks the first batter he faces, to load the bases with 1 out. The game-tying run walks to the plate. A pinch-hitter is brought in over the regular batter, who is batting .077 on the season. The PH has one at-bat on the season. Kerry strikes him out!! 2 outs now!

The top of the Clemson lineup is up now. They have 3 good hitters in the lineup, and they are up next. But the first one is 0-3 on the game. The count goes full. Kerry walks him, to force in a run. 8-5 now, the bases still loaded, still 2 outs.

The next batter up is hitting .500 on the season, and he's the winning run for the Tigers. He flies out!! The game is over!! Gamecocks win!!

Meredith is the last guy we want at the plate in this situation.  

An he flies out to end it.  Good game.  On to climpsin for the series.
