Gameccocks to go Bowling

such a great movie!

Your quote was probably used during the negotiation of Muschamp's extension!

I saw this was ranked as the worst bowl this year.  Not surprised.  I just hope no players get injured in a meaningless game that will not help our team get better at all.  It's not like we are a few practices and 1 game away from getting better.  Sorry to rant, but this is just pathetic and stupid IMO.

Hey Brew - I felt that way too until I watched Bobo's presser. It helped me understand a little better about how the athletes want to play and view it as a reward or treat at the end of a long, shitty season ... TIFWIW.

How do additional practices  and a game against a solid opponent not help us get better? Beamer is not coaching the game, but will get some great film on his current players - with all of the guys turning pro after this year sitting it out.

I understand that we are 2-8 and are missing a lot of key parts of the team, but UAB is beatable if we get coached up - we have more talent than they do, even with the missing pieces. And I enjoy watching the Gamecocks play, even when we lose.
Very true.  It will also give CSB a better idea of what needs to focus on in the February signing period.

A. Isn't the answer everything that isn't RB (and maybe OL)?

B. Is he going to be coaching the game or the practices? I thought Bobo was handling that.

A. Yes, that's about right lol

B. CMB will coach bowl game but CSB will observe practices from what I understand

Does observe mean not participate? I get having someone familiar with the system coach the bowl game, but would not understand beamer not interacting with the players at practice. That sounds crazy, but then again I would have said the same about hiring a guy and having him wait to start working until after the early signing period. AKA, what do I know

I think for sure interacting, just allowing Bobo free rein to put his process for the game in place, observe players etc. Also props to T-Rob, Coach Frantz, and others who won't be retained for stepping up to coach the bowl.

agreed. Well at least I hope the observe etc happens.

They are getting paid through the end of the year - so it is not like they are doing it for free (Bobo also gets 1.2 million next year).

Plus, they are auditioning for another job. A good effort from South Carolina in the bowl game - after all that the team has been through - looks good on the resume. The coaches that are leaving can point to Muschamp's interference as a reason that they were not more successful - especially if their unit is improved in the bowl game.
True but also they could be out actively job seeking, not coaching kids at a job they know they won't have in a week. Based on what Bobo said in his presser, I get the feeling that it wasn't something they had to do or is even that common, so that's why I gave them props.

The game was announced Sunday and we play Saturday. Christmas Eve and Christmas are in that week. I can't see meaningful practices happening.  I get players saying they want to play and if that's why we are doing it fine. I still don't see much meaningful evaluation and practice happening that will help this team. We need talent and better coaching. That's not happening this week. Even though the players want to play they don't deserve to. We won 2 games and got blown out a lot. Why reward that?

Good points but tbh I don't know if the SEC would let us not go based on contractual obligations unless we were in a COVID situation?
