Every game now is critically important.   Extra tough playing on the road.  But, I think USC is in the best place they have been all season to handle a game like this.   It will come down to whether we can make enough shots (FG and FT).    UGA is not a great defensive team.   If we can exploit that, then we have a chance.

I agree definitely with this. UGA is ranked nationally:

Scoring Defense: #303

FG % Defense: #280

3-pt. FG % Defense: #155

Blocks/Game: #136

Steals/Game: #70

Turnovers Forced: #140

This will help our offense which is not always that great - we've been inconsistent on offense, having really bad games where we can't hit anything, to having great games where we seemingly cannot be stopped from scoring. Hopefully we have a game like the latter tonight, and UGA doesn't stop us defensively.

UGA's own offense is slightly better than ours. Both teams are bad at the FT line. South Carolina is dead last - that's right, dead last - in the nation in personal fouls committed per game (#350), but UGA is pretty bad themselves at fouling. The Gamecocks are a much stronger defensive team:

Scoring Defense: #107

FG % Defense: #16 (#1 in SEC)

3-pt. FG % Defense: #31

Blocks/Game: #50

Steals/Game: #62 (#2 in SEC)

Turnovers Forced: #57 (#2 in SEC)

The last two stats may be key for the game, as UGA is a bad turnover team, ranked #298 (13th in SEC) in Turnovers per Game. We need to take care of the ball, minimize unforced turnovers, and come out ready to play strong defense and not be sloppy defensively. We should be OK tonight....

defense has been awesome 22-5 with around 7 min remaining in 1st half.  offense has played well despite not really hitting the 3's.  bryant being the lone exception with multiple bad turnovers, but he played well on defense too.

give them credit for hitting a couple tough shots but there was a bad stretch where they scored on 6 straight possessions.  we started to lose some of our connectivity and discipline on defense as the half wore on.  mccreary's activity has been great, 6 pts 4 reb a block and a steal off the bench.  of course that kotsar guy filling up the stat sheet with 7 pts 2 blocks and a steal.  38-20 at the half, keep it up.

couisnard and lawson have done a great job of driving but not driving into trouble and finishing tonight.  hannibal made a great move just now to get by his initial defender but drove into trouble.   bad lineup by frank just now, only one shooter on the floor.

Frink doing another great job getting rebounds and playing defense - filling in for the contributions we're missing from Minaya being out. This is the 2nd game in a row he's stepped up....

leveque is annoying me to no end with his lack of rim protection lately.  hes gone from the next silva to haase.  if frank doesnt bench him the rest of the game i swear.  doesnt rebound on the free throw then gives up a potential 4 pt play wtf is he doing out there if hes not blocking shots or grabbing rebounds.

bryant with a difficult make in the paint at the same time doing a good job of not driving into trouble.  got to a spot where he could get off a good release and was rewarded with a kind bounce.   69-48 good guys

Been impressed with McCreary early.   Cousinard has given this team a badly needed swagger.  He and Lawson playing well together and Bryant giving some good minutes tonight

frank screwing with me going with a no shooter lineup up 20 with 6 and some change left.  need good defense out of this lineup and for the first two minutes we've gotten it and attacking the paint on the offensive end.  frink finding mccreary for a potential and 1 and then hannibal flashing to the rim for a layup.

dont know if bryant got the tech for taunting the small uga guy or saying something to the ref.  75-54 after the two uga free throws

Knock on wood, but I believe this is the best a Frank Martin team has looked in February since I have been following his teams here.

I bet the UT game will be sold out or close to it this weekend.

The South Carolina Gamecocks take another road SEC victory as they defeat Georgia in Athens  75-59  to improve to 15-9 and 7-4 in the SEC. A.J. Lawson scored 20 pts which is his first 20+ pt game in SEC play this season, along with 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Jermaine Couisnard followed with 14 pts, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds, Keyshawn Bryant scored 12 pts, and 5 rebounds, and Maik Kotsar added 11 pts, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Jalyn McCreary came off the bench to add 8 pts and 5 boards, Trae Hannibal contributed 4 pts and 6 boards, and Alanzo Frink only scored 3 pts, but led the team with 9 rebounds.

The Gamecocks next return home to Colonial Life Arena to host 14-10 Tennessee....
