WHAT TO FOLLOW USC-MISSOURI

1. Welcome to February

The Gamecocks ended January with four wins in five games, setting up a next month full of potential.

The combined SEC record of South Carolina’s nine February opponents is 28-35, good for the league’s second easiest slate. Starting things by beating Missouri — and its 1-5 road record — would give USC its first three-game win streak since the season’s first three games.

2. Can the points continue to pile up?

South Carolina is favored to win this game, sure, but the Tigers are capable of their second win in last three trips to Colonial Life Arena.

There are no sure wins.   USC must play well.  Missouri is very capable of beating us.    And they will if we don't outplay them.    Every SEC game is a war.

This is really a must-win game for Mizzou and we're coming off of a tough win against the Razorbacks.

I generally believe Cuonzo Martin is coaching for his job the rest of the season and this is a dangerous game for us for that reason.

This game has "mental letdown" written all over it for us and we've gotten pretty good at losing such games.

It's definitely winnable for sure, but we'll see.

I am expecting to see a healthy crowd at the CLA and I just may damn well go myself.

One thing that I am seeing with this team that we have not seen the last couple of years is there are several kids that can make a difference in the game and if one guy is off someone else seems to be stepping up.  The last couple of years we did not have this and that certainly speaks to actually having some depth for a change.  I think this team is showing growth and progress and that is the sign of a young team starting to mature and get a better understanding of things.  I am hoping they can continue to gel and play well down the stretch.

11-6 Gamecocks under 12 minutes to play in 1st half. Timeout in the game. One Missouri player has all 6 pts for them, off of two 3-pt shots - but he just picked up his 2nd foul.....

Gamecocks lead 39-26 over Missouri into the halftime recess. Maik Kotsar beasting today - he has 9 pts, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks in 13 minutes of basketball - and zero fouls!! Keep it up, Gamecocks!

50% FG and 41% 3PT is a pretty good start. And only 6 fouls to their 13 is a really needed improvement. The only bad thing is we are only 55% on the FT line. It has been good to see Moss getting some productive time in the game.

Keyshawn Bryant started the game, then left the game and went into the lockerroom during the game. No word on what the issue is, but he came back out and huddled with the team just before the halftime....

Key starts the 2nd half on the court, so he seems OK.....

Defensive play today is about the best I’ve seen all season.  Guys really locked in and getting up tight on the person they are defending.  Simply not giving any room for shooting.  Brilliant play defensively.
