GAMECOCK-GAMEDAY THREAD: South Carolina vs. Missouri ***Feb. 01, 2020 at 3:30pm.***

Gamecocks offense pretty strong against a decent scoring defensive team, as the Gamecocks win against Missouri 76-54 for their 3rd consecutive victory, to improve to 13-8, and 5-3 in SEC play.

Maik Kotsar is the hands-down Player of the Game, with 21 points on 7-8 shooting from the field, and 7-10 from the free throw line (mind you, the team shot just 56%), 11 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots. Jermaine Couisnard scored 15 pts, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals, and AJ Lawson added 13 pts, and 7 boards.

A great follow-up response to our upset win on the road against Arkansas, and a great momentum-builder for the season. South Carolina next heads out on the road to Oxford, MS to take on the Ole Miss Rebels Wednesday night at 7:00 PM.....

 
Guess who’s suddenly up at the top of the SEC?  If Aubie loses tonight v. KY, there’s a three way tie for 3rd place in the league and it includes... GAMECOCKS!!

 
It was really good to see us dominate an overmatched team instead of playing down to the opponent. That might be the best game Kotsar has played at Carolina. I'm glad to see him having a good senior season. About the only thing to complain about was free throw shooting, but that wasn't an issue this game. Even if we had an 0-fer at the line today, we still would have won by 4. I just don't want to see that bite us in the ass later on.

 
Some injury updates to keep an eye on:


Hopefully these guys heal up - with the way the season is setting up for us, the last thing we need is to get hampered down with injuries cutting into our depth...

 
Was going to the game but started feeling weak all over after breakfast like I was getting sick again, so stayed home and took a nap.

It was one of those naps that feels like you did the right thing when you wake up from it.  Sounded like we had a good home crowd today.

Listened to the second half on the radio.

We will be pretty good this year if we can just stay disciplined and consistent.

 
We are tied for fourth place in the SEC.    Good game in most respects.   Gotta make FT.    Kotsar was really good today.   So happy for him!   Gotta make more FT.   Our first half defense was super!   Played without excess fouling.   And, gotta make more FT.

I believe we would own the tie-breaker with UK for 3rd if it gets that far down the road.

 
Probably the most complete defensive effort that I have seen from this team this year.  If our offense continues to perculate AND we can consistently play with this type of defensive effort, we are a good team.  Keep working hard, guys, you are putting out a very entertaining product to watch right now.
