GAMECOCK-GAMEDAY THREAD: South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt ***Jan. 25, at 8:00pm.***

I think last season these two teams combined for 50+ fouls. Well, they have gotten to 50 fouls again - USC has 28 of them, plus a technical on Coach Martin. But we're playing a bit better, and the fouls have been slightly more evened out in the 2nd half.

Gamecocks lead 81-57 with just under 4 minutes left to play....

Coach Martin clears the bench - Henry makes an appearance, as well as Anderson!!! Along with the walk-ons Green and Nelson, and lone starter Bolden....

edit: actually Bolden was not a starter.....

Gamecocks win over Vanderbilt 90-64, and even their SEC record to 3-3, and improve to 11-8 overall. Five Gamecocks score in double digits, led by Justin Minaya with 14 points, and a career high 12 rebounds. AJ Lawson also added 14 points. Jair Bolden scored 13 pts, and Alanzo Frink also added 13 pts, his career high in 11 minutes of court time. Jalyn McCreary rounded out the five with 11 pts...

Mccreary looked pretty good vs the smaller defenders
Yes he did, he shot 4-5 from the field. The Gamecocks overall shot 54%, had 43 rebounds, and dished out 20 assists. Any time a team combines for 50+%/40+/20+, that pretty much ensures a solid win against whoever. Although, Vandy's poor shooting and rebounding helped out, and the ton of fouls on South Carolina gave a lot of Gamecocks opportunities for a lot of minutes.  The bench scored a total of 46 points, and out-scored Vandy's bench 46-18.

Also, Trae Hannibal scored 4 pts, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in 16 minutes off the bench. Lots of good contributions tonight...

Happy to get the win.  Except for the fouls, I thought we played well.   Impressed with Minaya, Hannibal, Frink, McCreary.   Best game as PG for Hannibal, imo.  Frink was very efficient, as was Jaylen.    We have a DEEP team.   If Frank can get them to not foul so much, I'm looking forward to the game at Arkansas.

WatchESPN wouldn't stop buffering for me, so I listened to the second half on the radio.

Nice to get a rule-rather-than-exception win tonight.

Vandy goes to 0-24 and ties the wrong kind of SEC record tonight.  Jerry Stackhouse is gonna have to earn some coaching bucks this year for Vandy.

Good assessment. Tough road game ahead though.
