First signs of trouble with Beamer, staff or players this year what will be the Negative Nellies battle cry, here are my top three hits:  No. 1 " In way over his head" My number 2 Has no head coaching experience."  My number 3 "Should have hired Billy Napier told you."

That is my top 3 out of that number one is  "In way over his head"   Mark it down already saw it few times.

I don't have a dog in the fight but can't understand why folks who have a differing opinion are viewed as negative. The point about having no head coaching experience is a fact and can be discussed rationally but has no effect until the games are played. There are some others that will be factual but have to be proven. In the meantime there is nothing wrong with some constructive critique among fans.

As great as Bama is, their fans have some lively discussion.

South Carolina fans are no different from most, the issue with S.C. is that the fans never have seen a lot of winning or big time talent on the football field. I can't every remember having an 5 star QB , or more than 3 or 4 really great season's at Carolina, the fans seem to know who is best for the program each year.   The real issue is that  it's  always good enough if we just beat Clemson, I've  always said that that's not an Championship attitude.

Until we forget Clemson learn how to win and let the coaches do their job, and get the booster's out of the way we may have an shot. What I loved about Steve was he did his job, told the boosters to sit in the corner, and Hey I am the coach. I think Beamer will get back to that change the mind set .  I think the first thing he's done he's got an staff that wants to be here, and can recruit well, but I 'm ready to hear the crying let's just get behind this guy and quit trying to call the plays from the stands.

I think South Carolina can be the next Bama, it has to start somewhere and the Board of trustee's have to give him the money needed that it takes to get the best of the best and keep them .  I could go on for days but, I think for the first time in an long time we have the guy to get it done, just get on board . GO COCKS.

Some of the sames ones that called for Muschamp to be fired, will be saying we should have kept him for continuity.

1 of those 3 is objective...the others will be determined by his performance...I am cautiously optimistic that he is trying a new formula to produce success...I also like that he did not get coordinators/coaches from schools that recruit top notch talent and based their success on having top notch talent.  I hope that this works out well!

With the schedule it will be tough to show signs of marked improvement quickly  but the ooc games will help.  Fans will need to be patient but some will not.  There's little talent and depth on this team.  We have what appears to be a good staff of coaches assembled but they will need time to recruit and implement their play style.  Fans will be fans.

Spot on.

First, we need to upgrade talent and depth.  No way to compete in the SEC and even consistently win 8-9 games without much better depth IMO.  Seems Shane hired a good staff and I will be curious to see what he can do with this team this coming season.  I don't expect a great season based on our current depth.  I hate to sound like I have a loser mentality, but in reality, after being a fan since the late 80s (87 on), I don't see our program rising to the level of a consistent top 10 team year after year.  Please prove me wrong South Carolina Football program, but I think first we need to get to the level of 7-9 wins every year for 5 plus years.  Once we hit that, I think we will have some momentum to build to the next level.  Maybe it can be faster, but look at our history.  Even with Spurrier, outside of those 3 years, we had some hit or miss seasons.

Given all the crap that we have endured this year and post season with people leaving, patience is key. It would be unfair to judge based on his first year. He's going to need 5 years. Honestly I just want to see signs of progress and I fully expect some progress just based on having a new coaching staff. Beamer is saying the right things so far.

Developing, nurturing, and supporting the talent that is already here will be how this team improves in Year 1. IMO, Boom did well with this in year 1, decently in year 2, and after that the team always played under its collective potential. I think our current staff is in every way superior to Boom's staff from both a player development and recruiting standpoint.

I think we have a realistic shot at winning 6-7 games this year. As long as injuries don’t kill is, which hopefully that problem is gone now, and the in game coaching and management is better, we should be able to do that. We were close this past season, but coaching and apathy blew our chances.

My point hear is how fast we turn on the staff and ourselves. Nothing wrong just give winning a chance be little patient if you can. Think most of you mist my point. That's on me sorry.....

I think you made it clear.  Most of us went off topic, especially me! :)

I am sure if we lose early and maybe lose big, you will hear people saying, "see, no HC experience, in over his head, he sucks, we should of hired <insert any coach here>"  Humans are very impatient, especially today.  CSB needs at least 3 years before we truly judge his hire IMO.

That is dead on. We are very impatient. We live in an instant gratification world.

What upsets me and I am guilty as well. Perfect example I was so dis appointed in the Muschamp hire here. Screamed bloody murder the day he was hired. I said this time around going to support who ever Tanner hires. And I am. Start with feel it is a good hire and I know we all need patients this time around and we all need to pull together here. Going to be hard. Just visiting other sites to see how other poster feel about this hire. Seems to be a very negative group even before Beamer finished his staff. Example Bobo and Friend leave.  What pops up He is over his head. Let's let the dust settle at lest.

It takes a lot to turn the big steamship around when it has been pointed at a two-win season and before that arguably an even worse effort despite the nonconf wins ... it's a grumbly bunch. And it's made up of people who, by their nature, want immediate fantastic results or they will crow "we told you so" the minute we post our first 3-and-out.

I'm expecting a slow ramp-up and not much success next year. I look for Beamer to make progress over the course of the season, but also he's going to have growing pains. He'll probably make rookie mistakes and may blow a game or two due to inexperience. But, I'm going to try very hard not to give up on the guy because the upside is huge. Hell, his dad is the poster child for how patience can pay off big, and I think we have something to build on with Shane. I'm not gonna be on here screaming for scalps next year when things go sideways, but expectations will increase every year.
