Gamecock "Negative Nellies" In the fall, What will be there battle cry on there banner across all message boards?

Muschamp was well liked initially - because he had early success with Spurrier's players. To expect a three year rebuild, you have to assume that Spurrier did a better job of recruiting than Muschamp - when the recruiting ratings say the opposite,

McElwain won SEC East titles in his first two years with Muschamp's players.

I do not think that we should turn on Beamer if he has a losing record in his first year, or even his first two. But if we do not have a competitive team on the field in the first two years, then we have a right to question the hire and criticize the coach.

In this day and age, no one will wait as long for Beamer to be successful as Va Tech waited on his dad to get going. Simple reality. Beamer has been given the resources and some decent talent, and he needs to - at least - show some positive signs from the start.
UF didn't drag their feet in getting rid of Muschamp.  Thus didn't give him a chance to ruin their program (players).  We no doubt need to be patient with Beamer but improvement in some way or fashion needs to be seen in the program along the way, and not just seeing more players on academic honor rolls.

First, we need to upgrade talent and depth.  No way to compete in the SEC and even consistently win 8-9 games without much better depth IMO.  Seems Shane hired a good staff and I will be curious to see what he can do with this team this coming season.  I don't expect a great season based on our current depth.  I hate to sound like I have a loser mentality, but in reality, after being a fan since the late 80s (87 on), I don't see our program rising to the level of a consistent top 10 team year after year.  Please prove me wrong South Carolina Football program, but I think first we need to get to the level of 7-9 wins every year for 5 plus years.  Once we hit that, I think we will have some momentum to build to the next level.  Maybe it can be faster, but look at our history.  Even with Spurrier, outside of those 3 years, we had some hit or miss seasons.
RIght now I'd just be happy with a winning record. I need to get there before I can start thinking about the gamecocks being a threat in the SEC East. We have sucked most of my life.

Fair weather fans, sunshine pumpers, negative nellies, the list goes on and on. I will take the position of the comic strip character "Pogo"
