AD Ray Tanner on SportsTalk: I think if there are, at least, three SEC teams playing in the New Year's Six Bowl Games, there's a strong possibility we can participate in a bowl game.
Who will coach the team on the Gamecocks accepting bowl if if offered?
If South Carolina plays in a bowl game, Beamer will not coach in that, which has been the plan all along. It still remains to be seen whether or not the Gamecocks will play in a bowl game.

“It kind of starts with how many of our teams are going to be playing up in the New Year’s Six, if you will,” Tanner said. “When I talk about the New Year’s Six, the CFP and New Year’s Day bowls, so if you answer that question, then I would tell you there’s a possibility that we would be playing as well. “You’d probably feel pretty confident about the SEC moving up, what three or four teams?”
Tanner added, “That being said, then the likelihood that we would play in a bowl game would be strong.” Between regular season schedules, extra games and conference title matchups, there are still two weekends to go, before all of that can be settled.
“We’re certainly not a lock,” Tanner said, “But if we do get those teams up (into the New Year’s Six), then we’ve got a lot of bowl slots that we’re affiliated with in the Southeastern Conference.”
