Does that means he'll start on the 15th, when the BOT meets to approve it?

Of course not.  If they wanted they could've gotten the BOT together to approve his contract.  The limitation isn't the BOT meeting, it's that Beamer wants to finish the season at Oklahoma.
Just an FYI - that’s not typically the way a university BOT works  ... because of the open access to government rules typically known as “sunshine laws,” official government/state meetings of voting entities like BOTs have to advertise their meetings with, usually two weeks needed in advance. This is done to prevent boards and such from meeting in private or with no public notice.

So there was a big delay in Spurrier, Lou and champ starting then, right?

Did I say a single word about Spurrier, Lou or Champ? I was simply stating common BOT procedure - you can extrapolate what you want from the fact that they either did or didn’t start work in their office the day after they were announced.

I don't like us not having a sitting HC either but it is what it is and Beamer said he's going to be doing all he could do as if he was in Columbia anyway.  He seems to be working the portal and Juco ranks for us as we speak.

Logic dictates that if this is a common procedural hurdle then it would impact our previous coaching hires. Since the logical extention of your explanation does not hold, your explanation of why Beamer is not working here full time must be incorrect. Where you mention SOS, Lou, or CWM or not does dictate when/where logic applies.

I agree completely. It is not good, but it is a negative that we are forced to accept. My only problem is with the idea that Beamer is acting nobly or that the circumstances are beyond all control. In those scenarios, I have an inability not to point out BS.

IIRC neither Spurrier or Lou was coaching anywhere when offered the job so when they assumed their duties is a moot point.  Muschamp was on the Auburn staff, I don't remember exactly how his time line worked out.  Either way I fail to understand why you appear to have so much heartburn over this.  What could Beamer do here that he isn't already doing in Oklahoma?

focus on his job.

he can only focus on his job if he is not currently working another demanding job. I do not care where he lives between now and our next practice.
It is my understanding that because of current NCAA recruiting rules as well as Covid restrictions that he (and all coaches) are pretty much restricted to phone calls/zoom type meetings with recruits.  There are also limits placed on how many times you can contact a recruit within specified times.  Again, that being the case what difference does it make where he's at or what else he's doing if he can only call/contact Joe Recruit X number of times a week?

First off, I appreciate the civil conversation and effort to raise valid and logical points. That is often lacking on message boards. Your post shows that despite disagreeing with each other we can treat each other with respect. If nothing else comes from this post, please know that I appreciate you for doing that.

Second, you are correct that Beamer's ability to contact recruits is limited. However, there are many other aspects of his job that are quite demanding (e.g.  assembling a coaching staff, studying film on our current players, designing offensive and defensive systems, recruiting his non-coaching staff, hiring analyst, meeting with boosters, etc). His effort related to these aspects of his job are not limited by the NCAA. They are as important as they are challenging and time consuming. Most if not all can be started while living in Mexico City, Panama City or Oklahoma City (I know that OU is not in OKC, but it makes a nice sentence). None of these can be done to the best of his ability while working another 60+ hour a week job. Thus, I would prefer he was not continuing to work for OU.

I appreciate the civil conversation as well.  Thank you.  While you make numerous valid points I still believe that if Beamer wants (for example) Garrett Riley for his OC that calling him from OK is no different than calling him from SC.   I can see him not being able to meet with boosters at this time but is that something he would normally do at this point in the process?  (I honestly don't know?)

The Big 12 Conference announced Thursday morning that Oklahoma's game at West Virginia this Saturday has been cancelled.

In a university press release, Oklahoma indicated that COVID-19 issues within the West Virginia program prompted the cancellation.

'In accordance with Big 12 Conference football game interruption guidelines, the Oklahoma at West Virginia game scheduled for Dec. 12 has been canceled as WVU is shutting down its football operations for seven days," read the release.

The Sooners had already locked up a berth in the Big 12 championship game with their victory last weekend over Baylor. They'll face off with Iowa State for the conference title on Dec. 19 at AT&T Stadium.

I have no idea about when someone meets with boosters. Just an example of things that I know the job requires. You could be right about the offensive system. Time will tell I guess. Anyway, you have a good day. Thanks again for the civility
