Gamecocks announce black out for home opener
Fans Encouraged to Wear Black When Carolina Hosts Kentucky on Sept. 16

COLUMBIA, S.C. — To coincide with Columbia being at the epicenter of the eclipse, Gamecock Athletics has announced a "Black Out" for the 2017 South Carolina football home opener, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16.
All Gamecock fans are encouraged to match the team on the field by wearing all black for the 7:30 pm kick against the SEC Eastern Division rival Kentucky Wildcats. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
"Coach Muschamp wanted to do something special for the home opener," said Eric Nichols, Senior Associate AD for Marketing & Branding. "We will have several types of black shirts available at our retail outlets that can be worn for the game and throughout the season."
Special "Forever To Thee" apparel will be available in stores next week but they can be preordered online now.
