Gamecocks gearing up for another big weekend
April 18, 2018
There’s another important South Carolina recruiting weekend in store for the Gamecocks as several prospects from the 2019 and 2020 classes are set to be on campus.
Four-star quarterback commitment Ryan Hilinski (Orange, Calif.) is slated to take his official visit. The trip, his third to South Carolina, will be his first since he committed to the Gamecocks earlier this month.
Among the prospects expected to also be in town is 2019 5-star defensive end Zacch Pickens from Anderson, S.C. According to the 247Sports composite, Pickens is ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect in the country.
Hilinski is No. 313, which is second-highest in the Gamecocks commitment class. That haul, as of Wednesday morning, currently ranks 13th in the country.
Two of the top in-state prospects from the Class of 2020 are confirmed. They won’t have to travel quite as far. Four-star defensive linemen Jordan Burch and Alex Huntley are teammates at Hammond School in Columbia.
Burch, an end, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 27 prospect in the class. Huntley, a tackle, checks in at No. 101.
Cameron Roseman-Sinclair, a 2020 4-star safety from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C., is a possible guest for the Gamecocks. Roseman-Sinclair, who already has offers from North Carolina, Kentucky and Maryland, could join teammate Jaylen Nichols, South Carolina’s first offensive line commitment for the 2019 class.
Three-star tight end commitment KeShawn Toney (Williston-Elko, S.C.) has yet to nail down plans, but is looking to make the trip over, to help recruit for the Gamecocks.
According to Jeff Sentell of DawgNation, 2019 4-star athlete Jammie Robinson (Cordele, Ga.) will be in Athens this weekend for the Georgia spring game.
On the final weekend of the month, South Carolina will host at least two more 2019 prospects, one as an official visitor and the other as an unofficial guest.
Three-star guard Jakai Moore (Nokesville, Va.) is scheduled to take his official visit to see the Gamecocks. Penn State, Virginia Tech and Virginia are also in the mix.
Four-star linebacker Tyron Hopper (Roswell, Ga.) will return for another unofficial visit. Like South Carolina, Florida is drawing serious consideration.
