Gamecocks in on elite DT Rashan Gary

Defensive tackle will again be a need for South Carolina in the 2016 recruiting cycle and the Gamecocks are in the early mix for one of the nation's best.
Five-star Rashan Gary 6'4" 285lbs (Paramus, N.J. Catholic) is the No. 2 overall prospect in the Class of 2016 He has scholarship offers from nearly every major program, including South Carolina.
Gamecocks quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus, who recruits the Garden State for South Carolina, has been by to check on Gary multiple times in recent months (even last week) and extended an invite to the Gamecocks' junior day next weekend.
While we are told that Gary won't make the junior day, he and his mother, who has a close relative that lives in the Palmetto State, are planning to visit Columbia at some point this spring.
When you are recruiting one of the top prospects in the country several states away, getting he and those in his inner circle on campus early in the process is paramount.
Gary would rank among the top 2-3 defensive tackle prospects in the 2015 class, which is telling considering it is one of the best cycles on record at that particular position.
The Gary camp has been in touch with South Carolina as recent as this week.
