Apopka (Fla.) 5-star offensive tackle Martez Ivey 6'6 275LBS has a big weekend ahead of him. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound prospect will visit Alabama on Friday and follow that up with a stop by Auburn on Saturday.

Ivey was blunt with what he is hoping to see on his trip to Tuscaloosa.

“Just trying to figure out why they always get the best players,” Ivey told 247Sports' Ryan Bartow about the Crimson Tide. “That’s what I want to know. Obviously it’s something they are doing down there.”

For Auburn, a big reason for receiving an early visit from the five-star is the time and effort the Tigers’ staff has put in with Ivey.

“[i talk to] coach [Gus] Malzahn the head coach and I talk to the offensive line coach,” Ivey said. “When I talk to Auburn, they usually get the whole staff on the phone.”

Malzahn is not the only head coach Ivey has been in contact with early in the process.

“I’ve talked to Jimbo Fisher and I talked to coach [Will] Muschamp. I talk with Al Golden, South Carolina head coach, Ole Miss head coach and LSU are some that I know of. I talked to Urban Meyer too.”

Ivey admittedly grew up a big fan of the Florida Gators, but with colleges from across the country vying for his commitment, he is putting that fandom aside as he works towards a decision.

“Just that streak, that era they had, I don’t know, it was just something special to me,” Ivey said of Florida’s run in the 2000’s. “I just always wanted to be a Gator, but now that I got offers, it’s pick a college I got to go to. It’s about school now. At the end of the day, it’s about school, not football.”

However, the Gators still rank high for Ivey along with a host of other top programs.

“I don’t really have a favorite,” he explained. “If I were to make a top three, [Florida] would be in the top three. Definitely [considering] Auburn and Alabama, Florida State and LSU and Ohio State and South Carolina and Oklahoma.”

For Ivey, there is no timetable to make a commitment at this time as he continues through the recruiting process.

247Sports currently ranks Ivey as the nation’s No. 5 overall prospect and the No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2015 class.
