OL Jaylen Nichols 6'5" 290 of Charlotte confirmed Monday night he had committed to USC for the 2019 class giving the Gamecocks three juniors in that pledge class. Nichols was offered by the Gamecocks in the summer after attending a camp in Columbia.
Nichols also has an offer from Indiana plus he has drawn interest from North Carolina, Arkansas and Virginia Tech. He attended games this past season at USC, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.
He said offensive line coach Eric Wolford along with head coach Will Muschamp made him feel very comfortable.
“I like the coaches because they are consistent, honest and straight forward,” Nichols said. “Coach Wolford said I need improvement, of coruse, but where I am now he sees a bright future.”
Nichols said he primarily plays offensive tackle. Right now he’s planning to sign in December of 2018. And he said he won’t shut down his recruiting because he wants to draw in recruiters to see some of his teammates next season.
Nichols joins LB Ahdarrious Gee of Cordele, GA and DE Rodricus Fitten of Atlanta as Gamecock commitments for the 2019 class.
