Gamecocks lose another Four-star in commit Jamario Holley is no longer included in team's recruiting class

December 08, 2018

As early signing day approaches, South Carolina has a new spot to fill in its 2019 recruiting class.

The Gamecocks removed 4-star receiver Jamario Holley from their group of incoming recruits, according to a tweet from SportsTalkSC that credited the news to GamecockCentral. Holley is reportedly dealing with academic issues, which prompted South Carolina to move on from the local prospect.

Holley, who currently attends Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina — about 70 miles from Columbia — was the sixth-best recruit in the Gamecocks’ 2019 class, according to 247Sports.com’s composite ratings. Ranked as the No. 3 player in the state and 46th-best receiver nationally in 2019, Holley has been committed to South Carolina since early February.

Losing the 6-foot, 180-pound receiver drops the Gamecocks’ incoming class to just 16 players. Holley’s other top interests are SEC-heavy — he has offers from Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee as well as Florida State and Virginia Tech.
