Gamecocks' offense comes alive for the 6th win of the season to become bowl eligible by beating Vanderbilt 38 -27

we'll see if some of the changes we made stick the rest of the season and how effective they are. obviously if lloyd is healthy hes the primary back, but i think you need to mix in bell as much as you can as well as getting joyner on the field to supplement your running game while giving him the option to throw to make the defense respect it. you mix in some motion like we did mostly early on and suddenly youre less predictable, youre making the defense respect everyone and try to defend the whole field which will open up room for lloyd as well as the other playmakers.

ive read some critics of handing off to bell on another board saying hes not a rb. id agree hes probably not a natural rb and the deebo comparisons were premature and not accurate, but putting the ball in his hands helps open up the offense and gives you that option to line him up in the backfield and throw it to him as well.

The team has its issues for sure, but these highlights are 33-6 stuff.

We're getting there.

Cinco came in and just threw a TD pass like Thompson used to do for us.

If we can play Rattler/Joyner like Spurrier did Shaw/Thompson there's some hope for the rest of the season.

it took us 8 games to get here but clearly we should be doing a less run heavy variation of the mayo bowl offense. heres some jaheim bell stats, in games where jaheim bell has at least one carry and one catch, we are 8-1 during his career. the one loss by only 3 pts. in games where he has at least 2 rec and 2 runs 7-0, in games with at least 5 touches 5-0.

if you look at the cbs td replay it was a hell of a design carrying out the option fake because it took out the next two levels of the defense. at the same time some luck involved because the side cbs ran to had an unblocked edge defender who took himself out of the play because he assumed cbs was just running straight ahead.

Satterfield, awfully clever running CBS straight ahead into the pack the last two games...setting up just this play.
