GAMEDAY THREAD  Carolina vs Charleston Southern   **Tuesday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m. ET**

TOP 4TH

COCKS  10  -  Chas  3

2 OUTS

MAY HAVE SPOKE TOO SOON - CRAP

T4 | A two-run throwing error makes it 10-3 Carolina with two out in the fourth. Harley comes in for the Gamecocks.

Looks like we're taking some frustrations out on poor Charleston Southern.....and Sightler got his very first hit as a Gamecock, and it was a triple! He was 0 for 12 coming into tonight, with 8 of those 12 at-bats ending in strikeouts. He's really struggled. Now need Neville to start getting some hits and stop striking out, although he does have some hits already (about 4 or 5 I think) but also has around 25 strikeouts.....

Now we need to keep it against Mizzu and win our first SEC series of the year.

T4 | The Bucs have the bases loaded and two out in the fourth. Bridges comes in to pitch for the Gamecocks. Carolina 10, CSU 3

It's a shame to see the starting pitcher for us get 10 runs through 3 innings, but not able to reach the minimum innings to get the win. A number of our pitchers do well for short periods, then hit a wall, or a tsunami, and then it's all the coaches can do to get them out of there before we get run'd out of the stadium....

Notice that seems our pitchers peter out 3rd or 4th inning.

BOTTOM 4TH

COCKS  10  -  Chas  3

MAN GLAD TO BE OUT OF TOP 4TH

Think the problem all the pitchers are relief type.

I don't know if it's because they are young (most of them are freshmen) and just not physically developed enough to last that long - Adam Hill was like that his freshman year for us: all arms and legs that could barely last 5 innings but had great stuff, then beefed up in the off-season before his sophomore year - or if it's because it's around the 2nd time through the opposing lineups, and they are figuring out our guy's pitches. But I'm thinking it's more to do with the former than latter...
