Bottom of the second inning Josh Lester steps in. Beal makes short work of him, freezing him with the backdoor curve. Three Ks for Beal, one out for Scott Sommerfeld.

TOP 2 - LB Dantzler, leading the team with a .429 average, goes down on strikes. Breaking ball on the inside part of the plate. Dantzler didn't like the call. Rob Z, as the announcers are calling him, gets Schrock on a breaking ball outside. That's three Ks for the Gamecocks so far in five hitters. Bright up and fouls the first pitch off. He pops a 1-1 pitch up to Opel in right. That's 19 pitches for Rob Z. Gamecocks coming out hacking but no results yet. No score

Beal toasting some Tigers thus far. His fourth K sits down Sommerfeld and it's two outs for Shane Segovia.

Beal loses Segovia on a full count. Two-out walk and ninth hitter Dillon Everett steps in. Recently back after he broke his hand.

Beal Ks Everett to strike out the side, around a walk. He has five through two. 0-0, T3.

BOTTOM 2 - Lester digs into the box to lead off the inning, then walks back to the dugout after a strikeout. Good start to the inning for Beal. These hitters are taking some hacks. Make that two strikeouts as Beal battles back from a 3-1 count. Beal goes ahead 0-2 and issues a walk to eight-hole hitter Segovia. Another full count for Beal. He's up to 40 pitches. Lots of deep counts. No score.

George Iskenderian in. Rob Z Ks him for his fourth strikeout, one down for Grayson Greiner.

Well, that'll end a no-hitter. Greiner pile-drives one into the left-field bullpen for a solo homer, his first, and a 1-0 lead

No doubt about that one. Just leaned down and hammered it. TJ Costen follows with a single through short, one on for Saiko.

Saiko singles over a leaping second baseman and the Gamecocks have two on, one out, for Vergason. He's plunked

Loaded up for Pankake, as Mizzou will have a talk with Rob Z. Pankake taps it right to Z, throw to home, throw to first, DP

TOP 3 - Georgie goes down looking at strike three. We're not sitting directly behind the plate but it seems to me ump's zone is a little big. Iskenderian doesn't like the call. Greiner comes up, I bet a penny to the scribe out here with me that he'll hit a home run tonight, and I just doubled my money! Greiner hits a 1-0 pitch over the left field wall for his first home run of the season. Should have had one the other night. His at-bats have gotten better lately. That's why you keep giving him at-bats. He's been close, just needs something to go his way. Maybe that helps. Costen and Saiko hit back-to-back singles to left and right, respectively. That's three hits in a row. Vergason is plunked to load the bases. Pankake up and down in the count 0-2. Pankake bounces into a 1-2-3 double play. Yeck. Rob Z has thrown 38 pitches. Gamecocks lead 1-0

Worst place he could hit it, and he hit it. Tailor-made DP wipes out a rally just when USC cracked Z's armor. 1-0 USC, B3

Keeton leads off the third. Sharp bouncer to short, Pankake up with it and over, one down. Pearson up

BOTTOM 3 - Top of the order up for the Tigers. Keeton hits a routine grounder to Pankake, who makes it look routine. One down. Beal solid as he gets the Tigers in order. Pearson Ks and Opel lines out to Schrock at second base. Nice work there for the Bealster. Gamecocks lead 1-0.

Six Ks for Beal as he sits down Pearson. Opel up with two outs. He lines softly to Schrock, short jump, inning over. 1-0, T4.

Dantzler smokes one down the line, off the first baseman's glove. He tracks it down, but can't get him, leadoff single. Schrock up.

TOP 4 - LB Dantzler singles to first base. This official scorer likes giving hits and not errors. Schrock pops out to left field for the first out of the inning. Bright up and takes a fastball swing at a breaking pitch. Strike one. Now strike two. Now strike three. Two down. Georgie blown away on strikes. Rob Z has a little extra life on his fastball that inning. Gamecocks lead 1-0.

Schrock flies out to left on the first pitch, one down and one on for Bright. He strikes out on three straight. 5Ks for Z, six for Beal.
