Georgia Bulldogs vs South Carolina Gamecocks Preview and Analysis

UGA is entering this game with a 2-0 record overall to start their college football season and they will be playing their 1st road game of the season here. This will be their 1st conference matchup of the season. They won against the Samford Bulldogs in their last game at home 33-0. Stetson Bennett started that game at QB and he completed 24/34 passes for 300 yards and 1 touchdown. Kendall Milton led the team in rushing with 85 yards on 10 rushing attempts. Kenny McIntosh led the team in receiving with 61 yards on 5 receptions. Smael Mondon Jr. led the defense in that game with 3 solo tackles and 1 assisted tackle. Mykel Williams led the defense in sacks with 1 while no one on the defense came away with an interception for them in that one.

South Carolina is entering this game with a 1-1 record overall to start their college football season and they will be playing their 2nd home game of the season as they are 1-0 in their home games this year. This will be their 2nd conference game on the conference schedule this year as they are already 0-1 in conference games. They lost against the Arkansas Razorbacks in their last game on the road 44-30. Spencer Rattler started that game at QB and he completed 24/39 passes for 376 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Juju McDowell led the team in rushing with 35 yards and 1 TD on 6 rushing attempts. Antwane Wells Jr. led the team in receiving with 189 yards and 1 TD on 8 receptions. Nick Emmanwori led the defense in that game with 7 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles. Jordan Burch and Jordan Strachan both led the defense in sacks with 1 each while no one on the defense came away with an interception for them in that one.

Georgia vs South Carolina Prediction

The current betting odds have Georgia listed as a 24.5-point favorite in this game according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Georgia has reclaimed the number 1 rank in the country after the disappointing performance of Alabama over the weekend, and Georgia will be sure to hang onto that spot moving forward. They are the defending National Championship champions and their defense already looks the same as it was last year as they haven't given up a touchdown yet this season. They led the country for the fewest points allowed last season and they are already on track to repeat that with the way they have started. Their offense has also looked good with Bennett playing very well and they will definitely bring their best effort for this 1st conference game of the year. South Carolina has won both of their games this year but they looked shaky in their 1 game against Georgia State. This is the 2nd conference game for South Carolina having played Arkansas last week and losing. Can Rattler make the difference and show everyone why last year he was the preseason pick to win the Heisman? Georgia is the number 1 team in the country still and they will prove why in this game. The best bet here is on Georgia to cover the spread in this game.

Georgia South Carolina Prediction: Georgia 49 South Carolina 10.

I like to think we'll see something like the 2009 season when Shane's recruits first started making an impact.

There were two quality wins against #4 Ole Miss and #15 Clemson that year.

Hopefully another bowl win for us, too.

Need to see the running game and a defense that can stop the run. So seeing 24.5 underdogs at home is awful. Hoping for the best anyhow breaking down the game on this one with the Garnet classes off.

How can the Cocks beat Georgia Saturday? which players need to have an ace game above a team needing every player to have an A game?

No one thinks we can beat UGA. However, I'm hoping we can at least hang with them and the game isn't a blowout. Also, I hope no one gets injured. I look at this game as a chance to show future recruits that Coach Beamer is building a program they should consider. How we play even in a losing effort is important.

Really agree here with you. I did this week's prediction based on how they see it in Vegas. I would not be surprised if they hang in with the Bulldogs till the end and have a chance here to pull off the big upset.....

I think Kirby kicks us fast and hard in the first half, then plays his 2nd- and 3rd-stringers the rest of the way midway through the 3rd quarter.

We will improve as the season plays out, but I don't think we're there yet on offense. We'll need to score 17 to 21 points in the first half, but we're still slow starters on offense at this point.

I would also be very happy with being proven wrong and we get the upset, too.

I have watched us upset teams before, including UGA. Like others said, I hope we can keep it close and make a good run at it. If we can keep it as close as the ARK game, that will be a win. Our D will definitely have to step it up. Hope the Subs do a great job. It would be nice to see a better run game for us and I would love to see DK get a couple big plays even if only as a receiver. I also look forward to getting the 1st TD against that UGA D and would love to see several.

The UGA and Clemson games are essentially CFP bowl games for us every season in recent years.

We will win if UGA comes in here complacent and we generate enough offense in both halves of the game.

Every mistake will matter in a game like this one if we are competitive, too, just like it did against the Hogs.
