TOP STORYLINES FOR THE GAME
Mayor’s Cup: Like last week, a trophy is on the line for both teams. The Battle of the Columbias is dubbed the “Mayor’s Cup,” and the winner will be awarded with a trophy.
Ranked Gamecocks: For the first time in four years, South Carolina will enter a game as a ranked team. The Gamecocks were voted the No. 25 team in the nation after their win against Texas A&M.
Tigers try to climb SEC standings: Missouri got its first SEC win last week 17-14 against Vanderbilt. All of the team’s conference games have been decided by seven or fewer points, including the Tigers’ near-upset against No. 1 Georgia. Missouri is currently sixth in the SEC East.
The crowd noise in Williams-Brice: The fans in Williams-Brice Stadium helped cause eight false-start penalties on the Aggies. It’s another announced sellout this weekend. The team has sold out each of its home games except for one so far.
Another streak to break: South Carolina has overcome a few of its obstacles that span over the last decade. The team beat Texas A&M for the first time since the series began in 2014. It also beat Kentucky on the road for the first time since 2012 and is on its longest winning streak since 2013. The Gamecocks have lost three straight games to Missouri. Bowl eligibility: The Gamecocks need one more victory to be eligible for a bowl game, while the Tigers need three. A win for either team would position them well for the postseason, with four games remaining on their schedules after Saturday.

Saturday will hit a high of 68 degrees during the day, and is expected to be mostly cloudy by the evening. Game temperatures will bottom out in the mid-60s, according to the National Weather Service.
