Georgia Fans already turning on Kirby Smart

If you look at the records of he and Richt they are almost a mirror image of each other, makes you wonder how they really improved by getting Kirby other than Richt may have been ready to move on as well.

He inherited a talented roster and without an injury to Eason, he’d never have made the playoffs.  Kirby gets way too much credit for beating bad teams and one good season.

The commentary that Muschamp out coached Kirby with lower star value players is gold.

UGA fans thinking they made the wrong hire is priceless.

Kirby has recruited better and had better results than Richt. The fans are over-reacting to a bad loss - kinda like we do.
When you say he’s had better results are you just talking recruiting because their records are almost identical

It is easy for any coach who is decent to go to any school that is a known powerhouse year in and year out to out recruit other teams and win more games. That being said it is even harder for a coach of any caliber to go to a school without that kind of tradition and do the same. Muschamp may be better than our season began, maybe we just got lucky? Or maybe the players just did their job, didn't give up and the coaches coached a well played game. If it continues is the question. Let's see what we do against Florida then I may admit I over reacted a bit much early on this season.

One perk about living here in GA is listening to the irrational things UGA fans say and after a loss like the one yesterday. They like to put themselves in the class of Bama, LSU, Fla, Aub and even TN but haven't won a NC since 1980. I had a lot of fun making my rounds today and will have more tomorrow.

Their talent alone almost guarantees them 9 wins a year but neither CMR nor CKS have been able to get them over the hump.

Look at the roster, particularly on defense. Lots of young guys playing, starting true Freshmen or Sophs. I think it took them some time to gel. Ernest Jones is turning into a star. Brunson is playing better. Izzy and Horn are turning into leaders.

The DL is playing much better, the new DL coach deserves a lot of credit for straightening them out.

You know, I think there is more legitimacy to UGA fans being upset at coaches compared to our fans being upset with Muschamp.

Watching this video, the guy makes a good point early on. There is no greater correlation in college football than recruiting and success. When you finish with top 3 recruiting classes the past 4 years in a row, big wins, championships, and consistent playoff bids are the expectation. You have THE most talented roster in America bar none.

When our fans get upset with Muschamp, we remember that our recruiting is not at the same level as UGA, Clemson, or Alabama. We typically finish at around 20th in the recruiting rankings. We're a team that's been slowly but surely rebuilding over the past 4 seasons. There's more room for error, and not every bad play or loss comes down to coaching in of itself.

With Georgia though, Kirby came into the HC position with already elite talent. The cupboard was full, compared to Muschamp's being bare, and he immediately took off and found major success with it. Not only this, UGA continued to recruit the best players in the country. Their entire roster is full of the best talent in America.

There is no excuse to lose this game against the Gamecocks. South Carolina came into the game underrated, more focused, and more prepared. Our talent level isn't where UGA's is, but it's close enough so that we were able to win so long as we gave more effort than them. And we did.

Same could be said about our games v. UVA and UNC.

Social media is an UGA meltdown goldmine right now.

I have no idea who this UGA superfan is however the guy does make rational commentary during the game. Credit where credit is due. Then they lose.

He takes his time to walk downstairs, demanding that UGA OC James Coley be immediately fired, and then proceeds to destroys a brand new TV he had just purchased, not yet installed, for his "UGA Fan Studio."

It's long but there's some gold in there if you dig around for it...

or skip to 45:40 and watch him get ugly on his TV...

or 46:57 when his wife start hollering about the hedges being torn up.
