Tra Wilkins
Earlier this week the recruiting coordinator of Stone Mountain, GA LB Tra Wilkins tweeted a short list of favorites, in order, for Wilkins that had Clemson #1 and no mention of USC.  Wilkins said while he’s strong on the Tigers, he still likes USC and really doesn’t have a definite order to schools at this point.

“Clemson is like a top school but I haven’t put in any specific order,” Wilkins said.  “I like everything about Clemson really.  They are just different.  That attracts me, the stuff other coaches don’t say.  They talk more about academics and how they win off the field and on the field.”

Clemson hasn’t offered Wilkins just yet but he will be attending the junior day there March 3rd and he’s optimistic about landing one then.  And he feels he could be an asset to the Clemson linebacking corps.

“I feel like if I play at  Clemson I’ll make big impact,” he said.  “I feel like from me watching they’ve never had a linebacker as versatile as me because most of their middle linebackers are middle linebackers from what I saw.  It may be different.  I’m athletic enough to play outside.  I can run.  I’ll be more athletic than middle linebackers they’ve had.”

Wilkins also visited Clemson for the junior day in late January and he said he hears regularly from recruiters Tony Elliott and Brent Venables.

Last weekend he and several teammates visited USC.  He already holds a Gamecock offer and they are a contender as well.

“USC is a top school, too.  I’m dropping my top schools soon and South Carolina will be on there.  They like me a lot.  I talk to Coach Muschamp and Coach T-Rob and they want me to be a part of their defense,” he said.  “Jadeveon Clowney attracted me when I was younger and knowing that a couple of Stephenson products have played there or are going to play there also is attractive.”

Wilkins said he may set up an official visit to Mississippi State soon.  He plans to take two officials in the spring and the rest in the fall.  He would like to make his decision before his spring game if possible.  He plans to graduate and sign early.
