4 star OL John Simpson 6'4" 290lbs of Fort Dorchester won his first 4A heavyweight wrestling championship over the weekend. His wrestling season limited the amount of football recruiting travel he could get in over the past couple of months, but Simpson is ready to move forward with that now.
He recently added offers from LSU and Tennessee. Those go along with offers from Clemson, USC, Georgia, Wake Forest, Maryland, Louisville, Alabama and Georgia Southern.
Simpson went to USC’s junior day the end of January and he will go to Clemson this Saturday for the Tigers’ second junior day of the 2016 recruiting season. He also plans to visit Georgia March 21st and is supposed to visit Mississippi State and Alabama in the coming weeks as well.
“I’ve only been to South Carolina and Clemson and I want to visit some others,” Simpson said. “I’ve pretty much seen a lot at Clemson. I was up there for the South Carolina game. It was crazy. My mom was like Carolina this and Carolina that. She got in that Clemson atmosphere and it all changed.”
Simpson said USC and Clemson are both strong with him but he has not preference regarding staying in state versus going out of state. He doesn’t plan to make a decision until late in his football season or after the season.
