Can anybody explain the fixation with changing the appearance of football helmets and all the faldera concerning uniforms? It seems that either a helmet or a uniform change makes sporting news in this day & time. As a long time football fan, I have never developed much interest in helmets or uniforms, but have more interest in team and individual performance. Personally I hope South Carolina does not get caught up in this phenomonum any more than we are already.
It seems to to me that athletic departments are getting suckered by sporting goods salesmen in changing stuff for the sake of sales. I for one am not interested in helmet or uniform changes and don't consider that kind of stuff newsworthy.
