OL Cory Helms of Alpharetta, GA, who is transferring from Wake Forest, is back home from four days of official visits, first to Mississippi State and then to Texas A&M. Helms feels both visits went well.

“I definitely really fit in with both programs,” he said. “Both need a center. A&M’s facilities were incredible. I talked a lot of football with both and what they expect from the center. Mississippi State, I just felt at home there, too.”

Mississippi State was in to see Helms Wednesday. USC will be in Thursday with either GA Mangus or Shawn Elliott coming to the home. Helms will visit USC this weekend and he talked with Elliott on the phone Wednesday.

“He just expressed how much they want and need me and he was checking on my transcripts,” Helms said.

He will visit Penn State the last weekend in January then make his decision. He doesn’t have a favorite at this point.

“It’s too early to say a leader,” he said. “All of these schools are going to have a really good chance.”

Helms played two seasons at Wake Forest and was a freshman All American at center. He was moved to guard this past season.
