In the past decade the state of South Carolina has produced big time talent at the wide receiver position. It appears the Palmetto state will have another national level talent at that position.

Class of 2016 4 star wide receiver Bryan Edwards 6-foot-3, 185-pound (Conway/Conway) hopes to one day be mentioned in the same category as former South Carolina high school products A.J. Green and Alshon Jeffery. There are a lot of similarities already between Edwards, Green and Jeffery. They are all 6-foot-3 or taller, are known for being able to win the tough jump balls, and were all heavily recruited at a young age.

Edwards, who is only a sophomore in high school, is already being game-planned for by opposing coaches. While he knows it will take a lot of hard work to get to where Green and Jeffery are today, the Conway native is focused on his goal of making it to the NFL.

“Yeah, I’m familiar with A.J. and Alshon,” Edwards said. “They are both from South Carolina and are two of the best receivers in the NFL right now. I kind of look up to them.”

Like his two predecessors, Edwards is receiving interest from various programs at a young age. While it is still very early in the process for Edwards, there are two schools that have made a good first impression upon the 2016 prospect.

“I get mail all the time, but the schools that have offered me are USC, Clemson, Florida, and Virginia Tech,” said the 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver prospect. “Clemson and South Carolina are definitely sticking out. I’m still open to everyone but those are just the schools I have had the most exposure to and I like both of the programs.”

Edwards has made multiple visits to Columbia, the most recent being for the rivalry matchup between South Carolina and Clemson. Needless to say, Edwards came away impressed with the USC program after being able to watch the game first hand. Following the visit, he said the Gamecocks hold a slight edge in his recruitment.
