One of the top QB prospects in the country, 4 star Kevin Olsen 6'3" 195lbs of Wayne, NJ made an unofficial visit to USC Thursday with his father to watch the Gamecocks’ final spring practice. Olsen and his father also spent time afterwards with USC head coach Steve Spurrier and quarterbacks coach GA Mangus. “I think today went extremely well,” said Olsen’s father and coach Chris Olsen. “It was everything we thought it was going to be. It’s a beautiful campus. We spoke with Coach Spurrier and Coach Mangus and they were very impressive. They like Kevin. They didn’t push hard. They were very low key, very professional.” Olsen also has visited Miami, Auburn, Florida State and North Carolina. He will visit Wisconsin next weekend and might take some visits over the summer. Right now there is no favorite. “He would like to get it done (commit) before the season,” Coach Olsen said. “But there’s no timetable. He’s been very impressed with the places he’s gone to. But it’s a hard decision to make.” Kevin Olsen’s brother plays for the Panthers and there’s a school of thought the family would like him to sign with a school that would put them close to Charlotte so they could see both boys play. “In a perfect world, if it turns out like that, that would be awesome,” Coach Olsen said. “But that’s not a determining factor. We want him to be comfortable.” Among Olsen’s other offers are Arkansas, Iowa, East Carolina, Rutgers, Alabama, Stanford, Michigan State and Georgia.
