Jake Bentley at Utah

Especially if the interviewer doesn't know the difference. But it ain't the first time an interviewer has been bamboozled and it won't be the last.
Seeing through bs in an interview with a skilled hype person is very difficult to do

It's interesting this thread about Bentley evolved into a discussion about Muschamp. My take on Jake (pun intended) was he was and is a good quarterback, but not a great one. Granted he was thrown into the fray when he probably should have still been in high school. He had to learn on the job. My biggest issue was he was inconsistent. While he had some great games it seemed he couldn't put together a string of solid performances. I'm glad he's doing well at Utah. Just maybe he will get a shot at the next level.

no way he goes to the NFL, he is just an average QB

I agree. I thought his play in the Colorado game was inconsistent as usual. Still I am glad he lead them to victory and wish him nothing but the best!

I agree as well.  He's a decent college QB and that's about it.  Nothing spectacular about him in any aspect of his game as compared to others.  He's probably the coach type.

ok, maybe
I mean, who knows. He's obviously improving after getting out from under CWM's tutelage. Maybe he explodes next year. Maybe he plateaus. Maybe there is incremental growth. I'm just happy to see him succeed.

He never seemed to improve under Muschamp.  Sounds familiar.

I think you could say the same for every qb ever. I said at the time, CWM seems to have one approach for everything. If it doesn't work, he just stubbornly tries it again. e.g. hiring roper as OC twice.

I think Jake will always be streaky ... which will drive the Utah fans crazy like it did us ... I mean he LIT UP Clemson and then could follow up a performance like that with being frustratingly mediocre the next game.

Most of the time the thing that separates the good ones from the great ones is consistency

Yes, you're right I could never tell really what the issue was, just an streaky performance at the wrong times seem like.

The guys calling the game Saturday said the Utes run more of a Pro-style offense than the RPO stuff he was used to here, so he was bound to struggle early on.

Saturday the Utes scored 38 unanswered points in the second half to stage a dramatic come-from-behind 45-28 victory over Washington State.

...after Bentley was benched with less than 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

It's a game that will be forever remembered by Utah fans.

Senior quarterback Drew Lisk, who's in his fifth year with the Utes, started the season as the third-string guy after being eliminated early on in the quarterback competition. He was forced to watch as Jake Bentley and Cam Rising battled it out for the starter's role — which was won by Rising.

But after Rising went down hurt in the opener, Bentley got the nod to start and Lisk was promoted to backup. Yet even through Bentley's noted struggles this season, Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham elected to stick with the grad transfer.

That was until late in the first half against Washington State in the season finale.

Trailing 28-7 late in the second quarter, Utah's Whittingham decided to do something drastic and inserted Lisk into the game, the first time he's played all season long. After a drive that went nowhere and led to the halftime break with the Utes still trialing by 21, Whittingham elected to stick with Lisk to begin the second half.

Smart move as Utah scored 38 straight points in coming from behind to win 45-28 on Saturday afternoon at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

I did not see the game, but saw comments elsewhere that indicated that Jake did not do well.

I've seen enough football that I know one thing about QBs: If you're not consistently accurate, you're not going to win many games.
