Williams hits the road
Jeff Sentell of Dawg Nation, SEC Country’s sister site, confirmed that South Carolina commitment Jamyest Williams was indeed on Georgia’s campus Saturday for the Hail Mary Between the Hedges.
It should come as no surprise that Williams visited Georgia for the Tennessee game. That’s sort of been the plan all along, not necessarily to visit Georgia for the Tennessee game, but to commit to South Carolina and keep the door open for trips to other schools.
That’s what J.J. Williams, Jamyest’s father, told Sentell just moments after the announcement in September.
“He’s still going to take his visits, let’s make that be known,” J.J. said. “He’s still going to take his five visits, but he is 100 percent (committed).”
J.J. was adamant about that.
“We don’t believe in committing and de-committing,” he said. “Those are just values we have within ourselves.”
Those values will be put to the test over the next several months as South Carolina tries to hang on to the 4-star cornerback from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga.
Jamyest recently told Sentell that Georgia continues to recruit him very hard.
As long as Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson are around, the Dawgs will have their work cut out for themselves.
UNC commit visits South Carolina
South Carolina scored a Texas A&M game visit from Barnwell (S.C.) High School offensive lineman Marcus McKethan, who’s been committed to North Carolina since late June.

(Hale McGranahan/SEC Country)Muschamp and the Gamecocks staff have continued to pursue the 6-foot-6, 328-pound prospect and it’s apparent that their efforts have paid off. Before Saturday’s game, McKethan was spotted chatting with several Gamecocks commitments, including OT Eric Douglas and TE Will Register.
McKethan is unranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings, but 247 has him with 3-star billing and as the No. 126 offensive tackle in the Class of 2017.
Other guests
Also on the sideline during Saturday’s pregame routine were Saluda (S.C.) High School teammates Malik Brooks and Kelijiha Brown.
Brooks, a 2017 running back, was picked to the South Carolina Shrine Bowl team with McKethan last week.
Brown, a 2018 defensive tackle, has an offer from the Gamecocks. The 3-star prospect is listed as the No. 37 defensive tackle in the country. Brown, who’s listed at 6-foot-3, 305 pounds, also has an offer from ECU.
The duo was escorted to the middle of the field for some face time with Muschamp.
Michael Dukes, a 2019 running back from First Baptist School in Charleston, S.C., was pulled just onto the field — near the numbers — for a chat with running backs coach Bobby Bentley.
