Jamyst Williams

Losing a player is never a good thing. Even his HS coach said he was too small to play defense in the SEC.  We probably should have used him on offense and special teams, similar to Ace Sanders for instance.
Problem is that he didn't want to play offense, he wanted to play D.  His offer list was a lot of schools offering him to play O like RB or something. My guess is the coaches offered him to switch to O and he wants to go play D somewhere else, but who knows.

Hard to develop someone that misses so much time due to injury so while I don't necessarily disagree that we need to be developing better I am not sure this is the best example.

I guess the fact we just lost a Freshman All-SEC player bothers no one?
IIRC he’s had two shoulder surgeries since he’s been here.

Seems like this year in particular he’s either played a step behind in coverage and tackles or he’s tried to tackle hard and has been run over.

It takes a special player to play in the DBackfield, even more so when you’re 5’8”-5’9” tall.

My understanding is he didn’t want to switch to offense. He certainly may have made an impact, we’re pretty desperate for playmakers on offense.

Some people (like Spork) write this off as a failure in player development, I think his injuries just made it more difficult for him to succeed.

Joyner and Urich were willing to change positions not only to help the team, but to better their chances down the road. Jam wasn’t willing to do that. His choice for his future. Best of luck to him, he always seemed to play hard.

If he was there only player that had regressed...

Best of luck to him wherever he goes and whatever he does.  He chose to be here and it didn't work out for many reasons.  Hate to see the back up list get even shorter for the DBs.  He's a play away from being the guy again.

Fair enough, who are you pointing out that’s regressed?
offensive skill players are the easiest to evaluate. Bentley certainly didn't get better, nor have our running backs. Who knows what happened with Belk and Pickens has been pretty quiet.  Perhaps regressed was too harsh of a term. Maybe failed to develop is a better term. That is generally true for our team with an eerily similar pattern to CWM's florida tenure.

Pickens was supposed to be gang-busters on defense. Plus he was a heck of a short yardage RB - where is he????

Missouri - He had 2 Solo tackles, NO sacks. No TFL's, No QB hurries

Sad!

Biggest question for Tanner is how long before champs ability to bring in to players is undercut by other coaches saying look what happens to other great players under cwm? The more we lose the shorter that time is.

Also want to say nothing would make me happier than for cwm to figure things out. It would be a great story of hard work and determination paying off. I'm just not willing to sacrifice the team I love to give him too many chances
