Kinlaw has contact with Muschamp
Javon Kinlaw was in contact with Muschamp and defensive line coach Lance Thompson on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks coaches wanted Kinlaw to know that they will continue to recruit him “hard.”
“He was just saying he was sorry for offending me in any way,” Kinlaw said of his conversation with Muschamp.
“And we were just clarifying the situation … just trying to solve the problem.”
Kinlaw, who attained his GED before enrolling at Jones County Junior College, was placed at the Mississippi junior college after he committed to Muschamp last winter.
The 4-star recruit began his accelerated track with plans to graduate from Jones County in May, before enrolling at South Carolina in the summer of 2017.
Only time will tell what happens next, but it appears that Muschamp and the Gamecocks coaches are making a genuine effort to get everyone back on the same page.
In an interview with Phil Kornblut on Monday night, Kinlaw explained the disconnect.

Three-star offensive tackle K’Rojhn Calbert is scheduled to announce his commitment on Wednesday at noon (CST). Tennessee is believed to be the favorite among folks in the industry.
Florida has come on lately, as evidenced by his unofficial visit this past weekend when South Carolina was playing in Gainesville.
Calbert has seen the Gamecocks play three times this season, the other two were in Columbia: unofficially for the Texas A&M game and officially the weekend of the Tennessee game.
A 2017 prospect from Warren County High School in McMinnville, Tenn., Calbert has taken four unofficial visits to Tennessee this season. The Vols had him on campus twice during the summer. They finally offered last month, just days before he began his official visit to South Carolina.
Again, all signs are pointing toward the in-state school.
South Carolina offers top prospect from Kentucky
The Gamecocks tossed their name into the ring for 4-star cornerback Jairus Brents, who’s recently added offers from Alabama and Florida, among others.
Brents, the No. 1-ranked prospect from Kentucky in the Class of 2018, is listed as the No. 25 overall cornerback in the country.
