DB Steven Montac 5'11" 185lbs of Coffeyville JC, KS would be one of the top junior college prospects in the 2017 class if he returned to Coffeyville this season.  But as a qualifier out of high school, the Covington, GA native is eligible to leave in May, and that he may do as his recruiting interest picks up.  Today he is visiting UAB and Alabama and next weekend he plans to be at USC.

Mantac said USC defensive coordinator and secondary coach Travaris Robinson has been talking to him for awhile and wants to see him up close when the Gamecocks hold a junior day a week from Saturday.

“He really likes me and we’ve got a good relationship,” Montac said.  “He’s really excited about me and can’t wait until I get on campus.  He’s not said anything about an offer.  I’ll probably end up having to do some workouts but I’m not going to be surprised if they offer me.  He said he liked my film.”

Montac has offers right now from Fresno State and Troy and he’s also getting interest from TCU, Indiana, Missouri, Mississippi State, North Carolina, UAB and Alabama.  At this point USC and TCU standout as his favorites.

“If South Carolina offered, most likely I’d go there, but I like TCU and I have a real good relationship with the cornerbacks coach,” Montac said.  “But if South Carolina offered, there’s a 95% chance I’d be going to South Carolina to play with my teammate (Jamarcus King).  And coach Robinson has a great history of putting out corners in the NFL, and it’s hard to beat that.”

Last season Montac totaled 17 tackles with 1 interception and 3 pass deflections.  He will have three years of eligibility at the next level if he comes out in May.
