Class of 2015 four-star JUCO offensive tackle Paris Palmer 6'8" 305lbs (Scranton, Pa./Lackawanna C.C.) said Saturday following a South Carolina visit that he wanted to wait until December to make a decision.
Palmer apparently didn't want to wait to be a Gamecock. The nation's No. 2 JUCO OT gave his pledge to South Carolina offensive line coach Shawn Elliott Sunday night and then Tweeted the news.
"It feels good to say I finally have a home!" Palmer said on Twitter. "I just officially committed to The University of South Carolina Gamecocks!!! #WeCocky!!"
Paris Palmer chose the Gamecocks over offers from Ohio State, Arizona State, Baylor, ECU, Miami, Missouri, Penn State, South Florida and Temple.
The nation's No. 10 JUCO prospect was blown away during his first unofficial visit to Columbia Satuday.
He is on track to graduate in December and will have three years to play two.
"I like South Carolina a lot, honestly," Palmer said Saturday. "I like South Carolina, especially how close it is. I have an uncle who lives about 15 minutes from the campus. That's who came with me. I was with him and my mom. And it's not too far from where we stay in Fayetteville. I like South Carolina. I like everything they have to offer and the culture around here."
Palmer took the visit with his mother and uncle, who lives in Columbia. Palmer, who is originally from Plymouth, N.C., says his mother likes the idea of him being one state over.
