Former Columbia High standout 3 star wide receiver Casey Gladney 6-foot-2, 185-pound (Wesson, Miss./Copiah-Lincoln C.C.) has been committed to Cincinnati since April. But recent contact from South Carolina has the first-team NJCAA All-American considering the possibility of playing for his hometown team.
"Really I'm just waiting on offers," Gladney said. "I'm about to graduate and I'm trying to go on some more visits, because I've been to Cincinnati already. I had a great time there, but I'm just seeing if I can get a little closer to home to be around my family."
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound four-star prospect who is ranked the No. 5 junior college wide receiver by 247Sports, has been in contact with Gamecocks' quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus.
"He said he's going to get back with me, because I'm a May graduate and all that," Gladney said. "He said he's coming to see me either this week or next week. I haven't talked to him about which yet, but he's going to come see me and most likely he's going to give me an offer."
Gladney says if the Gamecocks offer then he'll set up an official visit, but he's not yet sure when that visit might take place.
"They have a very good program," Gladney said. "I played against some of their players in high school, like Shaq Roland. Me and him are close friends, and it's just home. They're winning a lot and it's just home, basically. Everything is the same ole, same ole."
Gladney was at one time committed to Alabama in high school, but signed with Tommy Tuberville's Texas Tech program in 2012. When Tuberville and his staff made the move to Cincinnati, and Gladney landed at JUCO, they stayed in touch with Gladney and landed a commitment from him on April 18.
Gladney, who is also receiving interesting from Minnesota, remains committed to Cincinnati, which he took an official visit to on Dec. 13. Casey has 3 years to play 2............
