JUCO WR Ronnie Jamison, an Irmo grad, lands South Carolina offer
July 22, 2017
Junior college wide receiver Ronnie Jamison, who prepped at Irmo (S.C.) High School, landed an offer from South Carolina on Friday.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect from Highland Community College caught 17 passes for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns as a freshman. He also returned 10 kicks for 259 yards and a score and 7 punts for 79 yards.
Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Idaho, Southeast Missouri State, Southern Miss and UAB have also offered.
South Carolina is his first Power 5 offer.
“It means a lot to me,” Jamison said, “Growing up a Gamecock fan and them just being about 15 minutes from my house, it’s pretty big.”
Coach Will Muschamp and co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon liked what they saw from him during camp Friday afternoon.
“Muschamp just told me that I was an explosive player and that he felt like I can come in play immediately, as long as I worked hard,” Jamison said.
South Carolina currently has one wide receiver committed in 2018: 3-star Darius Rush. The Gamecocks also have a pair of 3-star JUCO defensive tackles on board: Dantrell Barkely and Jabari Ellis.
As a senior at Irmo, Jamison caught 35 passes for 422 yards and 2 touchdowns.
