Virginia Tech announces head football coaching change - Virginia Tech Athletics

Director of Athletics Whit Babcock announced on Tuesday that Virginia Tech and head football coach Justin Fuente have mutually agreed to part ways.

I don't think Shane would be interested in the VT job for many reasons nor would VT be interested in him because he is basically an unproven head coach at this point in his career.

Agree Shane be here. Seems some fans would welcome him going to VT.

Coach O would be a good fit up there.

He probably doesn't want the UF job after dealing with a similar hostile environment at LSU.

I'll admit that I wanted to hire Fuente instead of Muschamp. I don't think he would have worked out here either, but that's who I wanted at the time.

I don't think by the timing of the firing that they have any interest in Beamer.  Not saying he could not be plan C or plan D if there first choices don't work out, but if they wanted Beamer there would be no reason for fire Fuentes now.  I think they want to go after a bigger proven name.  I am just not sure how desirable a destination they are for a big name coach.  I am sure Napier's name will be attached to a bunch of open positions.

can we get the running back that had CAROLINA and Virginia Tech on his final 2 before he signs with Tech, now they lost  their Coach.

Necessary to keep other coaches from sowing seeds of doubt in potential recruits minds.
From a recruiting standpoint, it was certainly better than saying, "Yeah, I might hang it up in another year or so" like Spurrier did, eh?

Ramon Brown would not be surprised

Interesting they gave the boot to Feunte so quickly when they gave Frank all the time he needed

I was thinking the same thing. Problem is we all want winners now along with the super contracts the coaches feeds big bucks into the P5 everyone wants to win now and with the portal players being paid you can just about change a whole team out like Michigan St. did.

The rumor's are getting loud in TEXAS, and I would not be surprised if they pull the plug , but who would they get that is any better with all the openings I think Steve S. stays in place 1  more year, if it would happen Beamer should call him just to see if he would be O.C. here.

I hear that they may be looking at Bill Obrien, but he is going to be considered elsewhere  and have other offers most likely I think will be Billy Napier or Chad from Costal.

The price is so high for coaches now you'd better win and win quickly at most places
