South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers recalls the first time he attended a NASCAR race at the Darlington Raceway and he was around 10 years old.

But nearly a decade later, LaNorris was back at the Track Too Tough To Tame and this time, he was perched on top of the Brad Keselowski pit box.

Coincidentally, Keselowski snapped a 110-race winless streak with a win Sunday at Darlington and with LaNorris on top of the pit box for that performance, that might be a sign of what is to come for the Gamecock football team this fall. It could also mean LaNorris is the good luck charm for the #6 team and he might receive an invitation for future races.

Went to the race myself after recovering from Saturday's loss to UGA at Founders Park.

Here are a few pics I took:

Bubba Wallace (23), Joey Logano (22), William Byron (24), and Ryan Blaney (12) pass by under caution after the #42 driven by John Hunter Nemechek, in tribute colors to Lee Petty's 1956 Dodge, spun out coming out of Turn 4.

William Byron (24) on pit road. Byron selected this pit stall even though he qualified 5th because there's no one in front of him I guess. He also had the same stall at last year's race, too.

I hate that some of these historic tracks are becoming an afterthought for Nascar...no wonder they struggle for viewership...darlington is a great place to watch a race! I live near Bristol which used to be awesome...now it is just huge (and largely empty for races)

The spring races typically have not drawn the large crowds like happens with the Southern 500 on Labor Day weekend, but the race Sunday was packed and it looked close to a sellout to me.

I don't really watch the TV broadcasts like I used to after cutting the cable some years ago so I can't watch the non-broadcast channel coverage.

I talked to a couple of Earnhardt fans who drove down from Kannapolis as we were walking in from the parking lot and then the guy who sat in front of me gave me a water bottle out of his backpack cooler. He offered me a beer, too, but I don't typically drink if I am the one who has to drive myself home from a sporting event. You can't experience stuff like that doing the couch tater stuff at home watching the TV.

Then I was texting a couple of friends during the race, too, and that made the time pass during the first half of the race. The track is less than 2 hours from the house, so it was not that much different than going to the CLA or Williams-Brice for me.

The temp was in the mid-70s, so you couldn't ask for better weather to do something outside last weekend.

NASCAR (or any motor sports for the matter) is just not something I have ever really cared to get into.

...and most car guys will tell you they don't care about sports, and possibly NASCAR, as well.

So I'm a freak that likes to sit in the hot sun at an event that can be heard for miles around amongst my fellow freaks at least once a year. Never cared for the status quo.

All gave some. Some gave all.

LOL

Not being critical of NASCAR. Obviously a ton of people enjoy it. It's just my thing.

I didn't take anything negative from your comments. No worries.

Going to a stock car race is my way of rebelling against the corporate establishment these days, which ironically seems to be the complete opposite of watching the TV broadcasts of a sport that is fundamentally run by corporate greed these days.

I don't really pull for a specific driver; just like being in the midst of the spectacle. It's better than going to W-B where I am likely to spend a lot of money just to get my feelings hurt. LOL
