Class of 2015 four-star offensive tackle Christian Pellage 6'7" 294lbs (Brooksville, Fla./Nature Coast Tech) visited South Carolina this spring, but wanted to return to campus for one main reason: to see what it would be look to work under Gamecocks' offensive line coach Shawn Elliott.
Accomplished that this week when he worked out at both the OL/DL camp on Friday and the Gamecock Showcase Camp on Saturday.
"The reason for coming here was to work with Coach Elliott and talk to the other coaches a little bit more," Pellage said. "Honestly, it was one of the best ones so far. I really just felt a different connection with Coach Elliott, which I really liked. I really seemed to take his coaching very good. He's definitely a down-to-earth guy. He can be serious and he can be funny, which I like."
The 6-foot-7, 294-pound Pellage, who took the trip with his father, also enjoyed the other aspects of the trip.
"The facilities are great, the atmosphere is amazing, there's going to be new dorms in 2015 and a new indoor facility," Pellage said. "The stadium is great and the academic center is amazing."
Pellage has offers from programs all around the country but hopes to narrow that to a more manageable list soon.
"South Carolina is definitely going to be in the top two," Pellage said. "When I get home, I'm going to think about everything a little bit more, make a list of everyone, do the pros and cons, and draw out a top five or top six and go from there."
