South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Miss. State has won each of their last four games as the home favorites. South Carolina will likely be the underdog. The Gamecocks are 2-2 against the spread in SEC road games where they’re not favored.

Mississippi State is a talented team that’s already knocked off a pair of the conference’s top programs in Alabama and Arkansas. They rank in the top half of the league in both scoring and defense. The Gamecocks’ hope in this one will come down to defense and rebounding. South Carolina holds opponents to 68.2 points per game and forces nearly 16 turnovers a night. That ranks 26th in the nation.

They also round up 38.6 boards per contest and rank 15th nationally in offensive rebounds. Second chance scoring and points off of turnovers will be key. If the Gamecocks can’t do those things successfully, they’ll be in for a long night. South Carolina has lost their last four games in Starkville and hasn’t beaten the Bulldogs on the road since its Final Four season. That streak stays alive on Tuesday.

Disappointing loss, but Ben Howland is a veteran coach that is used to playing Frank's teams.

Here are the SEC standings right now.

I have never seen this many teams with 5 or more losses; the likely effect of the portal.

We need to keep moving forward and hope for a middle seed in the SECT.

We were never really in that game last night. MSU started well and continued well for the majority of the game. Our man to man defense was ineffective. We did much better in the zone, but Frank didn't go to it until late in the game. Mistake on Frank's part, imo. MSU has better players than us at all positions. Sadly, we just don't have the talent to compete with them when they are playing well.
